Our Story

Food Forensics was founded in 2011 following the recognition of a growing need to protect both consumers and genuine food producers from the risks associated with food fraud and misleading product claims.

Since then, we have developed into one of the UK's leading food authenticity laboratories, combining scientific expertise with a deep understanding of food supply chains to help organisations manage food integrity risks.

More Than a Testing Laboratory

While many laboratories focus solely on generating analytical results, Food Forensics combines scientific expertise with a practical understanding of the wider food supply chain.

Our experience spans food production, animal nutrition, authenticity testing, Stable Isotope Analysis and DNA technologies. This allows us to understand not only what the data says, but what it means for your business.

Key Milestones

  • 2011 – Food Forensics is established.
  • 2014 – UKAS accreditation awarded for Stable Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry.
  • 2015 – Accredited DNA speciation testing added to the laboratory portfolio.
  • 2018 – Next Generation Sequencing added to the UKAS accreditation schedule.
  • 2019 – Laboratory awarded ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation.
